DEMOUNTABLE GYPSUM BOARD PARTITIONS
NOTE ** This section includes non-load-bearing demountable
partitions that utilize patented 2-1/2 inch (63 mm)
box studs with stud extensions and factory-
prefinished gypsum panels. Completed partition
system is 3-1/2 inches (89 mm) or 3-3/4 inches (95
mm) thick, depending on gypsum board selected.
Components and panels are 95 percent reusable.

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
NOTE ** STC rating of 35 to 49 can be obtained for
manufacturer's system by selecting the appropriate
panel and installing sound insulation in the cavity
where required. Contact the manufacturer for
specific requirements.
NOTE **
NOTE ** Insert rating required for this project in the
paragraph below. Delete this paragraph if sound
transmission is not a consideration.
A. Sound Transmission: Independent laboratory certification
that demountable gypsum board partition system provides
______ STC when tested in accordance with ASTM E 90.
B. Point Accessibility: Allow for all panels to be point
accessible and replaceable without affecting adjoining
panels.
NOTE ** Retain the following paragraph when required.
C. Fire Rating: Independent laboratory certification that
demountable gypsum board partition system has passed 1-
hour fire endurance and hose stream test when tested in
accordance with ASTM E 119.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product
certification, standard details, and installation
instructions.
C. Shop Drawings: Prepared specifically for this project;
show dimensions and interface with other products.
D. Selection Samples: Panel material and trim colors.
E. Removal and Maintenance Data: Removal and maintenance
instructions, parts lists, and wiring diagrams.
1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer's Product Certification: Materials meet or
exceed these specifications.
B. Installer Qualifications: Factory-trained, registered,
and licensed by manufacturer.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURER
A. Provide products manufactured by Gravity Lock Systems

B. Substitutions not permitted.
2.2 MATERIALS
NOTE ** Coordinate materials listed below with project
requirements.
A. Framing:
1. Top Track: Roll-formed steel, hemmed legs designed
to accept snap-on/snap-off PVC ceiling trim from
either side of partition.
2. Floor Track: Roll-formed steel, 1-1/2 inch (38 mm)
high legs.
3. Stud Framing: "U"-shaped studs with 11 inch (280 mm)
cross-locking channels, and roll-formed standard
studs.
B. Panels:
NOTE ** This Gravity Lock Systems Inc. demountable gypsum
board partitions accommodate a variety of 1/2 inch
(12 mm) or 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick gypsum panels.
This allows different type panels to be installed
adjacent to each other or on opposite sides of a
partition.
NOTE **
NOTE ** Select one or more panel types from below. If more
than one panel is selected, identify location of
each type on the drawings.
1. Vinyl-Clad Gypsum.
2. Steel-Faced Gypsum.
3. High-Impact Vinyl on Gypsum.
4. Sound-Control Gypsum.
5. Sound-Control Honeycomb.
NOTE ** Coordinate panel thickness below with project
requirements. Panel thickness of 1/2 inch (12 mm)
will result in 3-1/2 inch (89 mm) thick partitions;
5/8 inch (16 mm) panels will result in 3-3/4 inch
(95 mm) thick partitions.
6. Thickness: 1/2 inch (12 mm).
7. Thickness: 5/8 inch (16 mm).
C. Glazing Components: Extruded 6063-T5 aluminum alloy;
integrate with ceiling track and door frames.
D. Door Frames:
NOTE ** Select one or more door frame types from below. If
more than one type is selected, identify location
of each type on the drawings.
1. Aluminum: Extruded 6063-T5 aluminum alloy; integrate
with ceiling track and glazing components.
NOTE ** Coordinate opening height below with project
requirements. Delete both subparagraphs if covered
in schedule.
a. Opening Height: 7'-0" (2.13 m).
b. Opening Height: 9'-0" (2.74 m).
2. Steel: 20 gage, reversible.
NOTE ** Coordinate opening size below with project
requirements. Delete both subparagraphs if covered
in schedule.
a. Opening Size: 3'-0" by 6'-8" (0.91 x 2.03 m).
b. Opening Size: 3'-0" by 7'-0" (0.91 x 2.13 m).
E. Trim (Battens, Base, Ceiling Trim, and Corners): PVC,
snap-on type; manufacturer's standard color selected by
Architect.
F. Furniture Support: Meeting BIFMA requirements for
loading capacity; capable of supporting cabinetry of all
standard furniture system companies.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that floors and ceilings are level and ready to
accept partitions.
B. Verify that facility is clean, dry, and protected from
outside weather.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Comply with manufacturer's printed instructions, except
where more stringent requirements are mandated by
governing authorities, and except where project
conditions require extra precautions or provisions.
B. Erect partitions plumb and square, accurately fitting to
suspended ceilings and over floor coverings; adjust to
correct for floor irregularities.
NOTE ** Edit paragraphs below to conform to project
conditions.
C. Carpeted Floors: Use fasteners that rigidly secure
partitions without damaging or defacing carpeting.
D. Suspended Ceilings: Use fasteners that rigidly secure
partitions without damaging or defacing grid or ceiling.
E. Mechanically fasten floor track to substrate at both
sides of door frames, finished ends, and other areas
where additional rigidity is required.
F. Position studs vertically in floor and ceiling tracks at
frequency required by panel size; install three cross
channels per stud in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.
G. Install panel clips in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions; install panels on framework, taking care to
seat all panel clips on cross channels.
H. Butt panels to ensure tight, single line joints.
I. Neatly cut and fit panels to existing walls, window
mullions, building columns, and other appurtenances.
J. Install ceiling trim, base molding, corners, and other
trim in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.3 CLEANING AND ADJUSTING
A. Upon completion of installation, clean all surfaces that
have become soiled during installation.
